All of Creation Bears the Image and Likeness of Our Creator!
All of Creation Bears the Image and Likeness of Our Creator!
All of creation bears the marks of the Creator. From subatomic particles, to triads of stars and galaxies, bear the image and likeness of the Godhead.
Romans 1:20
For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.
What is known about God are -- (1) His invisible attributes, (2) His eternal power, and (3) His Divine nature.
The triad is obvious to us as the beginning, middle and end; birth, life and death; past present and future; thesis, antithesis and synthesis.
Genesis 1:26
Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."
The Hebrew word for God, Elohim, is a plural noun. Let us make man in our image speaks of the three persons of the Trinity. One God in three persons made man who is comprised of body, soul, and spirit.
From the subatomic particles of quarks, leptons and gluons - the material universe at its most infinitesimal level; to quantum physics - mass, spin, and parity; to the atom - neutron, proton, and electron; to music - every chord is made up of three notes; to light and pigment - three primary colors; to dimension - height, width, and depth; to the three states of matter - solid, liquid and gaseous; to vast galaxies, all bear the image and likeness of our triune God.
The universe is defined as everything that physically exists which includes the entirety of space, time and matter. Space is the invisible, three-dimensional, expanse of the cosmos in which objects and events occur. Matter is anything that has both mass and volume - has weight and takes up space. Although time is a great mystery, everything that exists, all matter and energy, exists in space through time. Time itself is a triad which is comprised of past, present and future.
Genesis 1:1
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
The Triune God created the beginning (time), the heavens (space) and the earth (matter) after his own image and likeness.
The universe is a picture of the Godhead. Like God the Father, space is the invisible, omnipresent source. Matter which is a visible, tangible reality, is a picture of the incarnate Son of God. While time enables us to experience space and matter as the Holy Spirit enables us to experience both the Father and the Son.
Our planet Earth, which uniquely is suited to both sustain life and is located where mankind can observe the universe, teems with life on land, water and in the air. The air which is the invisible, omnipresent source of life is a picture of Father God. While the land, which provided the dust from which the first Adam was created, bears the image of the Son of God. Finally, the rivers of the earth are the sources of "Living Water" - a picture of the Holy Spirit.
Not only did our Creator choose to incarnate as a Jewish baby and live his life as observant Jew and rabbi, the King of the Jews was crucified and then gloriously resurrected as the eternal Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David. It should therefore come as no surprise that not only do the Hebrew Scriptures bear the image and likeness of the Creator, but so do Jewish culture and religious practices.
The Hebrew Scriptures speak of the great patriarchs of the Jewish faith. The forefathers consist of three men - Avraham (Abraham), Yitzhak (Isaac) and Yaacov (Jacob). Throughout the Torah (Five Books of Moses), God is revealed in three main consistent manifestations as - Elohim (G-d), YHVH (Yahweh), and Ruach (the Spirit). Israel is corporately referred to as the Cohainim (priesthood), the Leviim (Levites or Temple workers), and Kal Yisrael (all the remaining people of Israel). The Hebrew Scriptures or Tanakh also are comprised of three main divisions - the Torah, the Ketuvim (Writings), and the Neviim (Prophets).
The Torah records three main mandatory Shlosha Reglim (Pilgrimage Festivals) for all males to go up to Jerusalem each year. These annual pilgrimages take place on Pesach (Passover), Shavuot (The Feast of Weeks or Pentecost), and Sukkot (The Feast of Tabernacles).
Even the modern day synagogue liturgy is constructed on triads. There are three prayer services each day - morning (Shachrit), afternoon (Minchah), and evening (Maariv). There are three sections of the daily prayer, Shemonei Esreh, found in the siddurim (prayer books). The Aaronic benediction at the end of a service is recited over the congregation in three verses.
When an Orthodox male Jew puts on his phylacteries, there is a three-fold blessing recited from Hoshea (Hosea) 2:19. This blessing is said while laying the tefillin (the phylacteries) and winding the strap around the middle (3rd) finger. This forms the three branched Hebrew letter, Shin. Shin stands for Shaddai (El Shaddai means the All Sufficient God).
Almost all words in the Hebrew language are formed and constructed from three main, root Hebrew letters (consonants).
All of Creation bears the image and likeness of our Creator. Not only are triads found as the building blocks of the elements and the forces of nature; the Hebrew language, the Hebrew Scriptures and Jewish religious practices and customs all bear the image and likeness of our Triune Creator God.
